Zimbabwe Capital Needs Another US$46 Million To Ensure Safe Water …
Voice of America
The city has launched major repairs at the Morton Jaffrey plant built half a century ago. But officials said nearly half the water pumped out of the plant is lost through pipe leaks. A city council source said officials have met with the finance minister to outline funding needs. Most of the Zimbabwean capital has been experiencing water shortages for years.
Maine’s water supply can handle Poland Spring
Bangor Daily News
We all understand on a general basis that Maine has abundant water resources. Less clear to many as evidenced by the May 8 editorial ?Cloudy Water Tax Issue? is how Maine?s water resources are regulated. Water withdrawals are closely monitored and regulated at the state level and through land use ordinances in many local jurisdictions. Because of this close monitoring and scrutiny water users cannot negatively impact the ecosystem or their neighbor?s water supply. Suggesting that these types of protections are needed overlooks the fact that they are firmly in place.

Multiple homes flooded by Ravenna water main break
Seattle Post Intelligencer
Water streaming from a broken 12-inch pipe poured south through her neighborhood. A break located on Ravenna Avenue Northeast just south of Northeast 80th Street sent potable water into eight homes including the Potts’ abode. Less than an hour after the break was reported Seattle Public Utilities crews had shut off water to the 68-year-old cast iron pipe. By then according to department spokesman Andy Ryan about 850000 gallons of water had poured through the breach. Directing crews at the scene Tuesday afternoon water operations chief Joe Mickelson said the cause of the break remained to be determined.
