Idaho Business Review
The board signed the agreements during its regularly scheduled meeting last week in Boise in an effort to continue to conduct and promote aquifer recharge to improve aquifer conditions and reduce water conflicts the Idaho Department of Water Resources said in a release. Water supply issues can impact agricultural producers municipalities residential developers homeowners and business owners. The Idaho Water Resource Board seeks to recharge between 30000 and 40000 acre feet of water to the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer of south central Idaho this year as one of the steps recommended in the Comprehensive Aquifer Management Plan – which recently was presented to the Idaho Legislature. The amount of water recharged is expected to significantly increase during the next few years as outlined in the aquifer plan to an average annual target of 100000 acre feet by 2019 the department said. Also at the meeting the board reviewed an initial draft of the Idaho State Water Plan. After the board approves a draft of the plan it will be presented for public comment and review at a series of meetings.
