ahu Water Supply Back To Normal

The Kuliouou Reservoir is still a little low but is still capable of operating at normal consumption rates. More than 200 reservoirs had been drained as a result of the blackout knocking out power to water pumps designed to deliver water to the reservoirs. Story continues below ?advertisement |.

Tennessee Ash Flood Larger Than Initial Estimate

which owns the electrical generating plant one of the authority’s largest. Moulton said Friday that the levels exceeded safety limits for drinking water but that both metals were filtered out by water treatment processes. Mercury and arsenic he said were “barely detectable” in the samples. The ash pond was adjacent to the Emory River and near a residential area where three houses were destroyed by the tide of muddy ash. Water sampled several miles downstream from the spill was safe to drink but its iron and manganese content exceeded the secondary drinking water standards set by the.

Though hotter these drier countries have lower populations. “We don’t look like [Morocco] because we have got a very very sophisticated public water supply system [and] a different environmental situation” said Bishop. “What [water stress] means for us is the risk of extreme drought and the infrastructure we rely on to supply our water resources would come under stress. Water resources were “in many respects far better” than in the past but rising demand lower supplies and tougher standards meant a raft of policies were needed to keep taps flowing and the environment protected said Bishop. Water companies have submitted plans to invest £27bn in maintaining and improving infrastructure for water supplies and sewage treatment in the five years between 2010-15 up from nearly £20bn in the previous five years. The total and the impact on customer bills will be decided by the industry regulator fwat in 2009.

Fluoridated water now in SE Qld drinking supply
ABC nline Australia
Premier Anna Bligh says major water treatment plants have been adding fluoride to water over the past two weeks. Ms Bligh says she is not expecting a backlash from voters over her decision to add fluoride to water. Last month Ms Bligh reversed a decision to immediately add recycled water into drinking supplies because of community concern. Some people are also worried about fluoride but Ms Bligh says they are in the minority. “There is definitely a small group of people who are concerned about fluoride” she said.

South Florida water managers want more reservoirs limits on use

The pits hold water that will be used to replenish the Loxahatchee River and have been called on to back up West Palm Beach’s drought-strained water supply. Converting more pits to water storage or finding other land nearby to store water would provide a backup supply for coastal communities. Such a backup supply couldn’t be matched by savings from watering restrictions county officials say. The district however has been slow to consider another land deal with Palm Beach Aggregates. Corruption scandals and cost concerns dogged the $217 million project.

Pipeline burst suspends water supply to 5 towns

The pipeline was laid in 1960 by the defunct Karachi Development Authority. The damaged line resulted in the supply of potable water being suspended in large areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal rangi Korangi Landhi and Saddar. The KWSB administration claimed that the damaged line was supposed to carry 630 million gallons of water to these areas and that the explosion resulted in the disruption of around 230 million gallons. The administration held the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) responsible for the damaged line saying that KESC initiated repair work of a grid station supplying electricity to the Dhabeji pumping station.

Water trucks reach Navajo community
Salt Lake Tribune United States
“We’re hoping for six to nine loads today if everything works out right” said Rick Bailey director of emergency services for San Juan County. At least 380 people are estimated to live in the isolated reservation community which is near the border with Arizona. ne mountainside spring operated by a nonprofit rural cooperative usually supplies water to the community but wildfires have damaged the watershed resulting in mud slides that may have caused a broken water line about a week ago. The 6000-foot elevation community is isolated about three hours from Blanding and the road is treacherous in good conditions. With rescue efforts stymied officials considered using helicopters to airlift the residents out. But as water trucks made it through Friday Bailey was planning to truck in two to three loads of water or about 12000 to 20000 gallons every day. The Navajo Nation has also dispatched a water truck.
