Haryana Irrigation department asked to ensure water supply

Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav on Tuesday directed all officers of the State Irrigation Department to remain vigilant for ensuring authorised supply of water at tails and to carry out intensive patrolling with the help of the police for ensuring canal water up to the tails. Yadav also directed the officers to advise the farmers to use sprinkler sets for optimum use of canal water, especially in the lift irrigation areas in the head reaches so that water could reach the tail end. He said the main priority of the State Government was to provide maximum facilities to the farmers so that their economic condition could improve.

Besides, a lagoon had also been constructed at Kiran Shoro goth which has storage capacity of 100 million gallons of water, he said. The nazim further said that the storage capacity of Hala Naka and Paretabad water works had also been increased from 35 million gallons each to 100 million gallons. The projects that came under discussions included construction of bridges on Phulelli and Matiari canals and lined channel, construction of a double carriage of former National Highway road from Hyderabad bypass up to Jamshoro railway crossing, construction of double carriage arterial road from Hyderabad bypass to Ghangra Mori, flyover near Mirpurkhas road, bridge on National Highway and construction of flyovers at Shahbaz chowk, Giddu chowk and Latif chowk.

According to a Del Jal Board official, the areas that are unlikely to receive any water on Wednesday include Greater Kailash I, Kailash Colony, East of Kailash, Garhi, Panchsheel Park, Panchsheel Enclave, Gulmohar Park, Gulmohar Enclave, Shahpur Jat, parts of Hauz Khas, Uday Park, Masjid Moth Village, Ayurvigyan Nagar and South Extension II. In addition to these areas, water supply will also be affected in Dakshinpuri, Sheikh Sarai, Sadiq Nagar,Chiragh Dilli, Said-ul-Jab, Neb Sarai and parts of Vasant Kunj. A Jal Board official said: “Though repair work is already under way, we will be able to restore normal water supply only after 24 hours. ” The incident took place when Delhi Metro was engaged in underground work for utility diversion on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur line below the Defence Colony flyover towards Moolchand…
