Everywhere, Barlow says, we’ve so plundered, polluted and degraded the customary fresh water supply, near Earth’s surface, that there’s no longer enough to go around. Two billion people lack sufficient and safe water. Environmental Protection Agency says 36 states are in some stage of crisis.

He added that the contractors handling the project are testing the pumping of water through the four pumping machines with a view to forestall any problem that might crop up when the plant begins full operations. Receiving the commissioner, the project director of the water project, Mr. Roy Strover assured him that there will be uninterrupted water supply to all nooks and crannies of the state this week. Roy Strover said that pumping of water is gradual and it would increase until the plant becomes fully operational before the planned commissioning. Earlier, while inspecting the Na'ibawa road project in Kumbotso local government area, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba had called on KNUPDA engineers to ensure that urban roads, when being designed, should put into consideration the width of the road for the convenience of users.
