According to DJB officials,the supply is unlikely to normalise for another couple of days. Said ArunMathur, CEO of DJB, ââUP reduced the supply to Delhi since itapparently wasnât getting sufficient water from Tehri. However, UP hasinstructions from the water resources ministry that it is to give us our entiresupply of 8 cumecs irrespective of the Tehri supply. Sonia Vihar is now getting105 MGD which it is utilising. We are hopeful that we will get the entirequantum from them verysoon. ââ Meanwhile,water level of the river Yamuna fell from 674. 5 ft to 672 ft and Haryanaâsdelay in releasing water for Delhi caused levels in the 120 MGD Wazirabad plantand 90 MGD Chandrawal plant to dip by almost 30%.

As part of the ongoing efforts, the Ogun State Water Corporation (OSWC), through a World Bank Project, has initiated moves to rehabilitate the State's entire major water works scheme, leading to an increase in the Corporation's water plans capacity from 15% to about 55-60% operation. Other moves include location of emergency water stand- points in areas where water is scarce. The water stand points allows tankers to supply water to those stand points so that people who have no access to water in their houses can also enjoy water from the emergency water stand point. The corporation also made provision of special allowances, provisions and pain reliving drugs to staff i. tanker drivers as incentives to boost their efficiency on the job; while there is on-going rehabilitation work at Abeokuta and the awarding of new projects at Ijebu Ode and Shagamu. Globally, millions of people face a daily battle to get clean water…
According to her, to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, the government, the water corporation, and various communities have been working together to achieve an understanding of the important goal of attaining safe water. That cohesion helped a great deal in mitigating the effect of the recent flooding in the State. For Olajide, providing good and stable water is a collective responsibility in order to safeguard the State's water resources through sustainable water practices. Olajide, who has a background in low cost water supply and Public Private Partnership (PPP), making her one of the few water specialists in private sector initiative in water supply in Nigeria, has been assigned to turn around the water situation in Ogun State. Before going to Ogun, she headed the Private Sector Participation Office of Lagos Water Corporation for almost ten years, following the World Bank's recommendation. According to Olajide, her strength is her members of staff, while the corporation has been working round the clock to achieve their set goals.
