The plan islikely to be implemented once the Centre gives its nod to the UP JalNigamâs Detailed Project Report (DPR) on improving the water and sewersystem of the state capital. The reform is part of the centrally sponsoredJawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM). Till now, a fix amount wasbeing charged from both the domestic and commercial users which they paidannually. However, with theJNNURM reforms all set to be executed, denizens will get water supply only aftergetting a meter installed, government sources said…
He added that no new connection would be givenunless a meter has beeninstalled. Mooted during therecently held meeting of state urban development officials with theircounterparts from Centre, the proposal actually seeks to make the local bodieslike the LJS financially more viable. The entire plan to provide better andregular water supply and sewer system would cost Rs 1200 crore. The fact that local bodies arerequired to generate 30 percent of the total project cost makes the proposaleven more significant. Consider this: The annualrevenue generated by local bodies â Lucknow Municipal corporation (LMC)and LJS taken together is somewhere near Rs 50 crore. But with the JNNURM inplace, the two would be required to generate as much as Rs 400crore.

Meanwhile, he said he will support the company’s request for a new treatment plant and a pipeline north of Frankfort, as long as the costs are “capped. ” In documents filed with the Public Service Commission, Stumbo said Kentucky American should get no more than $4. 4 percent, of the requested $13. 2 million rate increase.
