PESHAWAR: ANP opposes Islamabad water supply scheme
Pakistan Dawn – Oct 31, 2006
com ———- –>PESHAWAR: ANP opposes Islamabad water supply schemeBy Our CorrespondentPESHAWAR, Oct 30: Awami National Partys leader Asfandyar Wali Khan has expressed concern over the governments plan to siphon 1,000 million gallons a day off River Indus to supply water to Islamabad and has said that it will deprive the NWFP of its already dwindling water resources. In a statement issued on Monday, he said the ANP would never allow any programme that might convert the NWFP into a desert, adding that his party was ready to render any sacrifice to protect the Pakhtuns assets. He said that the province had already been deprived of its fair share of water resources after water was diverted for the Ghazi Baroutha hydroelectric power project, adding that no other such conspiracy would be tolerated against the Pakhtuns. He said that the water scheme would negatively affect the provinces agriculture-based economy and neither the army nor Islamabads Capital Development Authority was competent to take such vital decisions. com Banner Code ————– –>. floor(99999999 * Math.

“This is not an emergency or immediate risk,” the notice reads. “There are no actions that you need to take at this time. You do not need to use an alternate (i. , bottled) water supply. You do not need to boil your water or take other corrective action. However, if you have specific health concerns, consult your doctor…
Consequently, one of the most complex questions facing water supply professionals is how to reduce risks from disinfectants and DBPs while providing increased protection against microbial contaminants. The notice states that the city’s consulting engineer, working closely with the state Department of Health, is attempting to modify the treatment processes to reduce the level of disinfectant byproducts. “In order to not compromise compliance with other drinking water regulations, this treatment change will take time to implement,” the notice reads. Testing of the water after the modifications is expected to take place in January.
