DOMESTIC WATER Supply (DWS) is a comprehensive term for the water system in a house. The DWS has a potable quality water supply. This supply may come from several possible sources such as municipal water supply, collected from rainwater, open or bore wells, water from creeks, streams, rivers and lakes. It is estimated that US $7 billion (AED26 billion) will be invested in the development of the UAEâs water resources over the next 25 years. As the local population increases with the number of buildings, the demand for desalination plants to provide a continuous water supply is heading upwards. But so too is the need for water conservation and many of the firms at the show will be displaying products that aim to reduce waste and overall water consumption. Phillipines-based World Chem Enviro Technologies will be showcasing its waste and wastewater technologies and equipment, while CheqPoint Tech Trading will be explaining the benefits of water treatment without chemicals. Geberit will be exhibiting products for both sides of the water market, with pipes for water supply and drainage plus products that ensure the conservation of water, such as automatic taps and flushing systems.

Areas such as Landhi and Korangi have no proper water supply and most people of such thickly populated areas rely on water supplied by tankers, which they store for daily consumption, Ahmed said at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club. That water is stored unhealthily by the people of these areas, which prove to be ideal breeding grounds for the deadly virus, said the health minister. He said since there was no specific treatment for the deadly disease that could only be countered by precautionary measures. It is the responsibility of our media to create awareness among people about preventive measures so that all possible breeding grounds for the dengue-infecting mosquito are eliminated, he said. The government has established a free lab for blood testing at Services Hospital and subsidized the charges of blood tests and platelet kits by half…
