Pechanga Band, water district step closer to accord
Press-Enterprise – Jun 29, 2006
No Pechanga leaders attended the 40-minute committee discussion. Tribal Chairman Mark Macarro provided a terse written statement afterward when asked about the proposed agreement. The tribe has had a policy of working with water agencies in the region — including the Rancho California Water District — to reach mutually beneficial solutions concerning water resources, Macarro said in the statement. A representative of the Eastern Municipal Water District, which is poised to supply recycled water to Pechanga if the tribe and the Rancho California district can resolve longstanding differences, attended the session. Although no meaningful water-supply talks have occurred between Pechanga and Eastern over the past 1 ½ years, the possibility still exists, an Eastern representative said prior to the Rancho California meeting. “It would be a great opportunity if we could do that somehow,” Eastern spokesman Peter Odencrans said Monday afternoon in a telephone interview. He said Eastern has entered preliminary water-supply talks with the Soboba Band, another gaming tribe, but nothing substantive has resulted. A November 2004 meeting was held between Pechanga and Eastern because that Perris-based district provides sewer services to the tribe's rapidly growing casino and it also supplies much of the reclaimed water used in southwestern Riverside County. That meeting occurred about the time the tribe opened a 100,000-square-foot casino addition that includes expanded gaming areas, a food court, restaurant and bar.

According to HDA Director-General Tahir Ahmed, so far one water supply and six sewerage standby generators had been installed and remaining would be installed in due course of time because their changeovers were being purchased. He attributed water crisis to frequent power breakdowns and said that areas of Usmanabad, Tando Tayyab, Tando Mir Mehmood, Effendi Town, Guru Nagar, Makrani para, Talab number-3 were dependent on Hala Naka water works for supply of water. com Banner Code ————– –>. floor(99999999 * Math.
