The release of fresh water will help Wasa supply potable water to the people of Hussainabad and Latifabad. Presiding over a meeting held on Tuesday to review preventive measures against the spread of gastroenteritis in the district, the nazim said he had sent a letter to the Sindh minister for irrigation and adviser to the chief minister on local government system to help release the fresh water. He said that due to acute shortage of fresh water downstream the barrage since long, the water there had become unfit for human consumption. The electric conductivity of the stagnant water downstream the Kotri Barrage had touched 1,700 as against its permissible limit of 700, he said. Keeping in view the problem, he said, the Hyderabad district government had suspended water supply to the people from the waterworks of Hussainabad, Latifabad Unit No.
