Dutch Team to Focus on Water Issues

A Dutch delegation from the water sector will be visiting Saudi Arabia on May 16-17. The delegations focus will be on water treatment technologies and delta technology, according to Rob Dekker, head of economic and commercial affairs at the Royal Netherlands Embassy. Water treatment technologies include drinking water supply (desalination and groundwater), wastewater management and sanitation, water reuse, industrial water treatment and irrigation technologies. Delta technology, on the other hand, includes water construction (ports, dikes, and bridges), living with water concepts like floating constructions, coastal management and flood management. The delegations main theme will be Clean water availability for the future the Dutch approach. On May 16, the members of the mission will meet with the private sector at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and on the following day they will meet with government agencies at the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA). These agencies include the Ministry of Water and Electricity, Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Water Electricity Company, Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu and the Riyadh Development Authority.

In a release, the authorities claimed that of the 1,900 settlements, 1,417 villages receive about 40 LPCD while 483 villages receive between 41 and 55 LPCD. There were 89 settlements in the district where drinking water was below the minimum norm of 40 LPCD, and they receive between 31 LPCD and 40 LPCD, the release added. Fear of water crisis grips people in TLBC command area

Raichur: Untimely closure of the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal (TLBC) has affected drinking water supply in many villages and camps in the command areas of the canal in the district. Solution Supply of water to the affected areas through tankers is the only solution before the district administration. People living in 600 villages and camps along the command areas are depending on water from the canal. Pits They face no shortage till the onset of summer. Many of them have dug up pits to store water. They store water in the pits to the minimum level till the completion of harvesting of crops and impound water to the optimum level before the closure of the canal.
