Municipal divisions which faced acute water scarcity and yearned for supply by tankers were receiving water supply every day, he stated at a Praja Patham gram sabhas in 27, 28 and 29 divisions here. He called upon 10 women to form thrift groups and avail themselves of bank loans at 25 paise interest. Bankers would liberally grant loans to prompt repayers, he said.

Battles for limited water supplies can be fierce in the West, oftenpitting fast-growing cities that want water for drinking andlawn-watering against other groups that depend on farming andrecreation for their well-being. Water users and providers who have been at each other’s throats foryears forged a plan that will force them to discuss the best ways tokeep water in Colorado and reduce the impact on our water basins, saidMarc Catlin, a member of the Inter Basin Compact Committee that drew upthe proposed charter. The measure now goes to the House Appropriations Committee todetermine how to pay the estimated $1. The charter urges water users and providers to consider leasing andother temporary arrangements rather than buying water rights.

He also accepted that the Congressled SPF Government could not carry out many welfare projects as the three years in the four year rule so far was besieged in tiding over a huge overdraft amount of Rs 550 crores. Claiming that financial discipline of the SPF Government had contributed enormously towards enabling the Government implement 95 percent of the plan expenditure, he also claimed that at the present juncture the niggling overdraft crisis had been eradicated…
earlier, Chief Engineer of PHED formally entrusted the Scheme’s maintenance and operational task to the Ningthoukhong Municipal Council’s Chairperson. PHE Minister Govindas Konthoujam and MLA L Radhakishore also attended the scheme inauguration programme. The water supply scheme said to have cost about Rs 4. 5 crore would be able to cater to drinking water demands of 14 wards of Ningthoukhong municipal areas besides extending the benefit to Toupokpi, Wapokpi and other adjoining villages. The scheme has set a target to cover 25,917 household by 2028 out of which domestic connections would be extended to the tune of 70 percent with the rest set to be in the form public hydrant. Regarding goal of revenue collection PHED sources said an annual tax of Rs 32. 20 crores is being aimed at with Rs 10.
